'Dear Parents,
Welcome to Room 104! I am excited to get to know some of you for the first time. It will be great to see some of you again.
During the spring of 1998 I was fortunate to student teach second and fourth grades at Crestview. The 1998-99 school year was my first as an “official” teacher here. I taught first grade for 19 years and started teaching fourth grade in 2017.
After graduating from Olympus High School, I attended Southern Utah University where I received my B.A. in Elementary Education, with minors in French and Fine Arts and an emphasis in Reading. In July of 2001 I finished my M.Ed. in Reading from the University of Utah. I also have a Level Two Reading Endorsement from the State Office of Education.
*Lifelong Guidelines (Our Classroom “Rules”)
1. Be responsible.
2. Be safe.
3. Be respectful.
4. Be appropriate.
I use a “Thank You List” on the board to write the names of students who are modeling correct behavior. Students are excused in that order to recess/lunch and then the list starts over again throughout the day.
*Positive Reinforcements
1. Hearing verbal praise.
2. Spending individual time with me.
3. Receiving notes or calls at home.
4. Helping in the classroom.
5. Writing in journals.
6. Using math manipulatives.
7. Earning a trip to the principal or Cougar Paws.
*Consequences (each day is a new day)
1. The student will be redirected.
2. The student will receive a verbal warning.
2. The student will have a time out/think time.
3. The behavior may be entered in Educator's Handbook (an online behavior tracking system).
4. The parent(s) will be contacted.
If needed a child may be placed on a daily contract after consultation with parent(s).
*Birthdays
We will celebrate each child’s birthday with a card from the class and a small prize. Please do not send birthday treats. I will make sure each student with a birthday in the summer has a turn during the school year.
*Other Policies
For school policies please refer to my website, the Crestview website, and your Crestview Policy Manual packet.
Thank you so much for all your help and support! Please do not hesitate to contact me with a note, a telephone call, an email, or in person. Crestview is a wonderful school with great parents and super students and I am fortunate to be a part of this strong community.

My maiden name is Sanders and I kept my original email address.
Email is the best way to contact me. I usually check my messages before school starts, at least once during the day, and again after school. I might not have a chance to write back immediately during the day, but you can let me know about absences and appointments. Thanks!
